Payment, Rebates, and Booking Your Appointment

We strive to make the practical side of therapy as smooth as possible.

  • Referrals and Medicare : To access subsidised sessions, you must obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral letter from your GP. This allows Medicare to rebate a portion of the fee for up to 10 sessions annually.

  • Instant Rebates : We utilise TYRO technology to process your Medicare or Private Health claim on the spot, so your rebate is returned to your account almost immediately.

  • Fees and Gap Payment : While Medicare provides a rebate, a small gap payment is required for our specialist services. We are dedicated to providing excellent value through experienced clinicians.

  • Flexible Payment : We accept all standard payment methods and are pleased to offer Afterpay to assist with managing your fees.

EMDR for Processing Trauma and Difficult Memories

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, highly effective, evidence-based therapy. It is used to help the brain successfully process memories that are stuck and causing emotional distress, contributing to long-standing issues.

Our highly skilled EMDR Psychologists near Payneham are experts in using this technique to help alleviate symptoms such as:

  • The lingering effects of psychological trauma and PTSD

  • Chronic stress, debilitating worry, and panic attacks

  • Difficulty in social or professional functioning

  • Persistent feelings of being disconnected or unwell

EMDR can help you transform your relationship with difficult memories, leading to emotional freedom and renewed well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I switch practitioners if the initial fit isn't right?

Absolutely. The therapeutic relationship is crucial for success. If you feel you would be more comfortable with a different practitioner, simply let our Reception team know, and we will happily assist you in finding a new match within our diverse team.

2. How does the government's 10-session limit work if I start therapy late in the year?

Medicare subsidises 10 rebated sessions per calendar year (Jan 1st to Dec 31st). Any sessions unused by December 31st (up to 4, if you haven't had your GP review) can roll over into the new year. Our Reception team will clearly guide you through the process and timing of your GP reviews.

3. What is the difference between an individual session and an Executive Coaching session?

Individual sessions focus on clinical psychological issues (e.g., managing anxiety, depression, trauma). Executive Coaching, provided by some of our senior clinicians, focusses on professional development, leadership challenges, burnout prevention, and maximising organisational performance.

4. Do I need to prepare anything for my first appointment?

We recommend arriving about 15 minutes early to complete initial paperwork. Beyond that, the only preparation needed is the willingness to talk openly. Your therapist will guide the conversation, seeking to understand your background and goals.

5. Is Couple's Counselling covered by Medicare?

Unfortunately, Medicare does not provide rebates for Couple's Therapy. If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be able to claim a portion of the fee, we recommend checking your specific policy benefits.
